DSV Road: New product portfolio for German road transport
New scheme of services with DSV Road for land transport in Germany offers also time-defined and “green“ products
The differentiation of requested services, advancing in the most important European market, causes the forwarding group DSV Road to introduce a new product line, including time- defined and "green" service functions. The uniform names in English are a special feature of the modified and extended product range. Brian Eising, Managing Director DSV Road GmbH (Bremen), explains this approach by the German subsidiary’s affiliation to a global company.
The new range of services consists of the basic categories DSV unit (full charge), DSV direct (part loads) and DSV europe (international general cargo), completed by the national general cargo solution IDS ONE DAY. Warranty and value-added services are also available. These are appended according to the naming scheme. For example, the name "direct DSV fix" refers to a part load, scheduled to arrive at the receiver at a defined date beyond the regular time. Another example: The "DSV europe flyers" is an international general cargo shipment carried as an express consignment; as "DSV europe guarantee" the same shipment can benefit from a preferred processing and special monitoring.
What is completely new is the additional option "eco": When booking DSV unit eco or DSV direct eco a pick up time frame of three days is agreed. Thus DSV can dispose the pickup so that an ideal route and capacity utilisation can be achieved. A number of special services such as intermodal special transport complete the offer. Thus DSV short sea uses the seaway as an alternative to the road.
“Our customers expect a clearly arranged offering that makes a difference between basic products, additional warranty services and premium products“, says Brian Ejsing. “Our aim is to create a uniform service portfolio for national and international transport, which enables our customers to compare and control costs.“
