ELVIS AG about to enter in to less than full load business

Full load cooperative ELVIS AG is to launch a hub-based system for part truck loads in spring 2011

The European load association of international forwarders ELVIS AG (Europäischer Ladungs-Verbund Internationaler Spediteure Aktiengesellschaft) takes another step towards diversification. At the partner meeting on 19 October in Frankfurt they decided to enter into less than full load business.

ELVIS AG is currently active in the fields of full loads and jumbo transportations. The new part loads service adds another important element to the product portfolio of the cooperative. “With our dense network of partners we can provide the infrastructure for a part load system. What was important for us when we developed the concept was, that we can create an offer that distinguishes itself clearly from general cargo with regard to production, costs and quality“, says Jochen Eschborn CEO of ELVIS.

From spring 2011 part loads will be handled at the central hub in Northern Hesse. In contrast to general cargo terminals, trucks are not docking at a handling facility, but they are uncovered at the side. Throughput is carried out by use of fork lifts. The part loads hub is roofed and offers space for 50 trucks at the same time. A local hub management will control the facility. Information about incoming loads and consignments to be exchanged, are transmitted via a web portal. The part load system of ELVIS is flexible, so it can be adjusted to the demand: “In the first stage of construction we want to establish the hub; in a second one we will handle part loads with fixed direct transport services”, says Eschborn.

Under the umbrella of ELVIS AG and the syndicate ELVIS Suisse Genossenschaft renowned, efficient, medium-sized European forwarding and transport companies have joined to meet the future requirements of the growing European market of full truck loads. The target of the cooperative is to join forces and provide a European network for full truck loads in the market. The network comprises currently more than 80 connected partners, operating a fleet of more than 8,500 trucks.
