Emirates SkyCargo optimises service for temperature sensitive freight
Emirates SkyCargo is the first airline to use the new generation of Envirotainers heating and cooling containers from Germany:
Germany premiere for a new generation of heating and cooling containers: Two Envirotainer “RAP e2”-containers were transported on a commercial flight from Germany for the first time. Emirates SkyCargo, Emirates’ air freight division, has transported a new generation of heating and cooling containers of the producer “Envirotainer” via its hub in Dubai to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The containers were carrying temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, needing to maintain a constant temperature during the entire transport process. Delivery to Dubai was carried out by lower deck freight capacities aboard a Boeing 777 on Emirates’s daily flight ex Hamburg.
The Envirotainer RAP e2 is a heating and cooling container with active temperature control, which enables the transport of mainly temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals from door to door. Temperatures can be regulated between 0°C and 25°C. This brand new container concept only uses light composite materials. The high isolating effect of this material and the active temperature control guarantees constant temperature in the container. In comparison to the previously used modular construction of the containers with the same equipment, these boxes have less weight, which reduces emissions during transport.
Reinhard Coldewe, Emirates Cargo Manager Germany: „we are glad about being the first airline to fly the new Envirotainer containers ex Germany. This transport confirms our position as an innovative airline offering individual, customised solutions. The Envirotainers enable us to guarantee even more reliability for the transport of temperature-sensitive cargo to our customers.“
