Eva Air takes action for environmental protection

Eva Air’s new website http://eco.evaair.com/english/index.html is dedicated to the reduction of CO2 and waste:

The private Taiwanese airline Eva Air shows environmental awareness. On its new website the enterprise informs about its actions to reduce environmental pollution caused by passenger and freight traffic. The aim of the website http://eco.evaair.com/english/index.html is also to provide information to travellers and air freight forwarders about the transport mode they have selected. Moreover the website shows actions of employees to reduce CO2 and waste. This includes among others the current replacement of paper through electronic documents, as well as e-ticketing for passengers and e-freight for forwarders.

Taking into consideration the order of silent and fuel-saving aircraft of the Boeing 777-300ER type, Eva Air has taken environmental action to reduce CO² emissions by 114,721 tons within three years –2006 to 2009. The company management’s credo is to support and develop such environmental protection projects also in the future. Environmental protection has been an issue for Eva Air for quite a while.

In 1995 the airline was among the first to change for non-smoking flights. In 2000 Eva Air Sky Catering was certified according to ISO14001, meaning they reached the highest environmental standards. In 2009 energy consumption in buildings was reduced by 3.131,899 KWh compared to 2008. This reduction of CO2 emissions equals the value of planting 166,251 trees. Last year the enterprise saved 20,779 tons of water, 232 tons of waste and 25 tons of edible oil. Moreover about 1,400 tons of food residues were recycled.
