Fifth joint season for ÖSV and DB Schenker

DB Schenker serves Austrian skiing association also for FIS Alpine Ski-WM 2011 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a logistics partner

DB Schenker and the Austrian skiing association (Österreichischer Ski Verband) have started their fifth season of cooperation. In midsummer the forwarding company as the official logistics partner of the ÖSV has supplied the “Ski Alpin“ stars with material for their summer training camps in New Zealand, Argentina and Chile. Since 2005 a total of 400 tons of equipment was scheduled and managed from the business site in Kufstein by order of ÖSV.

The season’s first great challenge is the transport of material to races overseas in November and December 2010. For the ladies team about five tons, for the gentlemen team about nine tons of material was transported – consisting of training and race equipment, tools of the service team as well as equipment of the physiotherapists. “We must be able to be sure that our working equipment arrives at the right place for the right time in mint condition“, Herbert Mandl, ÖSV ladies head coach, outlines the requirements. The highlight of the season is marked by the FIS Alpine Ski-WM GAP 2011 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen from 7 to 20 February.

DB Schenker is the logistics partner of ÖSV, partner of the Austrian Olympic Comité (ÖOC) as well of the Austrian Paralympic Committee. DB SCHENKERsportsevents was lately in charge of equipment transport for the Austrian ski stars and the service of the Austrian Olympic Comité at the Olympic winter games 2010 in Vancouver.
