Flattening growth of air cargo at Vienna Airport
Moderate increase of air freight volumes in the month of October at the Vienna International Airport
The growth of cargo throughput levels at the Vienna International Airport (VIE) is slowing down. According to the Flughafen Wien AG 26,704 tons of cargo (air freight and trucking) were handled in the month of October. This is an increase of 2.8 per cent compared to October 2009. In the period from January to October 243,963 tons of air freight passed the facilities of the Vienna International Airport. Thus the reference figure of last year was surpassed by 20.6 per cent. As for passenger transport the Vienna Airport was able to improve by 11.4 per cent to 1.83 million persons in October. From January to October nearly 16.7 million travel passengers (up 8.7 per cent) were counted. The number of flight movements rose 1.2 per cent to 207,312 take offs and landings in this period.
