DPD majority shareholder GeoPost showed substantial growth

DPD majority shareholder GeoPost, a subsidiary of the French La Poste Group, showed a year-on-year increase of its consolidated turnover in 2008 by 7. 1 per cent to EUR 3.292 billion (in constant currency terms). With a parcel volume of more than 550 million units on behalf of 300,000 customers worldwide, the group confirmed its position N°2 in Europe and N°1 in the French market. By numerous acquisitions GeoPost further consolidated its position in Central and Eastern Europe in 2008. In March the group acquired the major part of the Romanian CEP-service Pegasus (150 employees). In April GeoPost secured the major parts of the shares of DPD Ukraine and is now able to offer an express service and national and international parcel services there.

Together with the Turkish partner Yurtiçi Kargo GeoPost is the majority shareholder of GeoPost Caspian based in Almaty in Kazakhstan. The company was recently renamed into DPD Kazakhstan. In May 2008 the French group and the Austrian enterprise Lagermax signed an agreement on the takeover of 100 per cent of the shares of DPD Bosnia, DPD Croatia, DPD Slovenia and DPD Serbia.
