Gruber Logistics invests in employees and digitization
The establishment of a logistics company in the heart of the Alps is no easy task, but Gruber Logistics, headquartered in Auer / South Tyrol, has made it. From 1936 until today, the company has grown steadily year on year, continuously investing. In 2018, consolidated sales increased to EUR 344 million, an increase of 8.7 per cent compared to the previous year.
Even in difficult times, the company is constantly investing in people and currently employs around 980 workers, emphasizes Gruber Logistics in a press release. Accordingly, the company is constantly looking for new employees. There is a need for reinforcement both among professionals and school and university graduates with foreign language skills and a particular organizational talent.
“We know that the future of our company is inextricably linked to the personal and professional success of our employees. That’s why we offer them the space they need for their development and, step-by-step, accompany them in a continuous training process so that they can grow together with the company,” says Group CEO Martin Gruber.
The desire for innovation and simplification was the “stumbling block” for “Gruber Beyond”, a digitization project which on the one hand simplifies the processes in transport management and on the other hand should make the performance and the exchange with the customers and operators more transparent and traceable.
First results are two in-house developed digital applications: the customer portal “Gruber Beyond MyDesk” for the handling and tracking of deliveries, and the smartphone app for drivers “Gruber Beyond DriverApp” for the geolocation of trucks and communication between driver and company in real time.
“We are aware of our responsibility to future generations. That’s why we invest in sustainable transport solutions,” continues Martin Gruber. “Our 800-strong fleet of vehicles consists exclusively of Euro 6 vehicles with an average age of two years; There are also LNG tractors powered by liquefied natural gas, which significantly reduce our CO2 and nitrogen oxide balance.
In addition, the company has been operating intermodal transport for more than 30 years by rail as a more sustainable alternative to road freight transport. The latest investment in this area is the opening of a connection between Kreuztal in North Rhine-Westphalia and Verona in northern Italy.
With 28 branches in Italy, Europe and Asia, Gruber Logistics offers a wide range of services for full and partial loads, heavy and special transport, air and sea freight as well as warehouse logistics and industrial relocation. The company works for all major industrial sectors such as iron and steel, automotive, chemicals, food, paper and e-commerce.
