Hapag-Lloyd recognised for best data quality

Cooperative of globally leading importers and exporters honours Hapag-Lloyd for IT performance

The GT Nexus Shipper Council, a cooperative of globally leading importers and exporters, honoured the Hapag-Lloyd shipping company for the best data quality of its status information of ocean freights in the past twelve months. The award was presented to Hapag-Lloyd at Bridges 2012, the GT Nexus annual user conference. The GT Nexus Shipper Council offers a cloud-based platform that the world’s biggest companies use to control their global supply chains. Together the members of the Council generate turnover of more than EUR one trillion per year and move several million containers.

“The purpose of the Shipper Council is to work collectively as a group to improve key technology challenges with strategic partners such as the ocean carrier community. Data quality from ocean carriers is critical to every large shipper represented on the Council. Hapag-Lloyd has demonstrated commitment to improve data quality and delivered results”, said Martin van Dam, Container Freight Manager EMEA at Cargill in Amsterdam, and Head of the GT Nexus Shipper Council Europe.

Unlike traditional software company user groups, the Shipper Council members all share GT Nexus as a common cloud technology platform to run their global supply chains. This allows them to measure and benchmark against the collective industry performance and improvements by any one member will benefit the entire community. The work of the group has moved the industry average data quality score to well above 90% across the top 20 ocean carriers representing over 80% of global capacity.
