Hellmann ships first ,green‘ sea freight container

CO2-neutral transport logistics of Kreidezeit Naturfarben and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics to be expanded to the sea way:

Kreidezeit Naturfarben GmbH is to transport CO2-neutrally also on the seaway. With the first climate neutral sea freight container the enterprise enhances its sustainable cooperation with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. The first ,green‘ sea freight container is travelling climate-neutrally to the US these days. "We like acting together with Hellmann as a team to improve our carbon footprint steadily", says Gert Ziesemann, managing associate of Kreidezeit Naturfarben. Also for Hellmann this is the first climate neutral transportation of a sea freight container.

Kreidezeit Naturfarben GmbH and Hellmann have been carrying out climate neutral transportations since last December. So far the CO2-neutral handling was exclusively available for truck traffic. Ziesemann comments on the expansion to sea freight as follows: "A company like Kreidezeit Naturfarben that manufactures environmentally viable products, is also responsible of checking the complete supply chain with regard to sustainability."

For more than 20 years Kreidezeit Naturfarben from Sehlem in southern Lower Saxony has been producing ecological, fully declared paints and materials for surface treatment and design from natural and renewable raw materials. Their ecological and social orientation defines also their selection of business partners. Hellmann was Germany’s first logistics enterprise to be certified according to DIN ISO 14001 in 1996.
