Hungary’s BILK Kombiterminál is docking to InlandLinks

BILK Kombiterminál in Budapest is Hungary’s first terminal on the Port of Rotterdam’s online platform InlandLinks

The 40 terminals comprising InlandLinks network of Rotterdam’s port industry has gained new members in Central and East Europe. The Budapest Intermodal Logistics Center Kombiterminál (BILK) is the youngest member of the online platform for container terminals in the hinterland providing intermodal services from and to Rotterdam. InlandLinks is based on an initiative of the Port of Rotterdam Authority and was established two years ago in cooperation with the Inlands Terminal Operators association.

The online platform allows its users to see general options and specific advantages of intermodal transport via Rotterdam. The system alliance helps also to increase container traffic in seaports hinterland traffic on inland vessels and railway. InlandLinks covers terminals in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Italy and Hungary.

BILK is situated at the south-east edge of Budapest, inbetween a regional road, a motorway and a railway line. The Kombiterminal comprises a 10 hectares railway station with bimodal terminal for intermodal transport and a logistics centre. The seven 750 metres-rail tracks, with two gantry cranes and four reach stakers offer capacity for about 220,000 TEU per year.
