HHLA Logistics receives certificate for environmental management

German Lloyd HHLA Logistics awarded certificate to HHLA Logistics for its successfully implemented environmental management system:

On 29 June 2011 the German Lloyd awarded the ISO certificate 14001:2009 to HHLA Logistics and HHLA Logistics Altenwerder for their successfully implemented environmental management system. This globally approved process confirms both locations of the company in Hamburg have reached their environmental targets and their sustainable business operation. When presenting the certificate, Dr. Ulrich Ellinghaus, Head of Certification Hub Germany of German Lloyd, praised the commitments of the company established in warehousing, project and contract logistics. The certificate is valid for three years.

The HHLA Logistics branches Altenwerder and in the overseas centre have set quantitative and qualitative environmental targets for 2011 – including the reduction of CO2-emissions. This is confirmed by the certificate. The process was initiated by the management and tightly accompanied by Katrin Wilcke, the environmental delegate of HHLA Logistics, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA). "I am very proud of our employees, who made a significant commitment to reaching the environmental targets with their commitment and ideas. Apart from protecting the environment this means also a reduction of raw materials use and costs, which will be a competitive advantage in the future. More and more customers show interest in the CO2-footprint of logistic services", explains Jürgen Frank, Managing Director HHLA Logistics.
