Honold invests EUR 5 million into renewable energy

Honold Logistik Group takes concentrated measures against global warming and greenhouse effect

Honold Logistik Group is to launch an ambitious program with regard to a reinforced use of renewable energy. With a total investment of around EUR 5 million the enterprise equips its logistics facilities at the locations in Augsburg, Neu-Ulm and Memmingen with photovoltaic systems. In 2009 the photovoltaic systems at the plants in Augsburg and Memmingen were already connected to the net. Three more systems are to follow in the coming months at the locations in Neu-Ulm.

After completion of the solar project 7,674 modules with a total surface of 12,478 sq. m. will be installed, which is an area equalling the dimensions of about two soccer fields. This means 1.7 MWp of environmentally friendly, "green power" can be produced, which reduces the annual CO2 emissions by around 1,530 tons, as the Honold management writes in a press release.
