Imperial Reederei becomes sole shareholder of BARIS

BARIS about to be renamed to Imperial BARIS and to agree upon cooperation with Reederei Ed Line GmbH from Berlin:

 

After two years of successful cooperation Imperial Reederei GmbH (Duisburg) is to become the sole shareholder of BARIS Schifffahrtsgesellschaft mbH, effective 1 July 2011. From then the enterprise will act under the name Imperial BARIS GmbH with its headquarters in Berlin and a branch in Duisburg. The aim of this action is to boost synergies and consolidate the market position.

The former associate Reederei Ed Line GmbH from Berlin will sign a cooperation agreement with Imperial BARIS GmbH on 1 July 2011. The aim of this partnership is to continue cooperating, particularly with regard to providing suitable cargo hold on ships.

The core activities of Imperial Baris will still be the development of logistics concepts for the transport of heavy cargo, water-affine forwarding business in the heavy haulage and facilities segment and shipping special tonnages. The previous general manager Ralf Maehmel (Berlin) and Thomas Käpper (Duisburg) will form the company management.

The Imperial Reederei-Group counts among the leading river shipping companies in western Europe. The fleet consists of 148 own and 415 leased vessels, and transported 53 million tons of dry and liquid bulk cargo last year. Their 613 employees generated a turnover of EUR 400 million in 2010.
