IMS container operator posts moderate growth for 2012

Container operator IMS – Intermove Systems wants to launch new products in 2013 in a difficult environment

Also in 2012 the private Austrian container operator IMS – Intermove Systems has registered moderate growth. According to a press information of the company they handled 147,000 TEU (2011: 145,000 TEU) and consolidated turnover of EUR 46.3 million (2011: EUR 45 million).

„In spite of the difficult environment in the second half of the year we were able to increase volume again compared with 2011“, says CEO Wolfgang Tomassovich. From his point of view this moderate increase of sales revenue shows the general problem of the industry segment: “While costs for energy, routes and diesel are rising, revenues are stagnating.“ However 2012 had been a good year seen from the economic aspect. The company had been able to reduce management costs and establish new transport services (e.g. Koper – Vienna, Rotterdam – Weil),” says Wolfgang Tomassovich in a retrospective view.

Due to the ongoing euro crisis and the associated restraint in consumption the IMS team can not assume that there will be significant increases in volumes in 2013. "As in recent years it will be all about shifting market shares, particularly in Austria. As to revenues, the trend of recent years continues, hence cost increases in transportation could not be passed, or only in part, to the customers," Tomassovich estimates. However, he has big hopes for some new products in the portfolio, which will be launched in 2013.

IMS was established in 1993 as a private container operator. The full service provider operates locations in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Switzerland. Together with worldwide partners the company provides services related to combined transport. The container operator with headquarters in Vienna has currently about 70 employees.
