Insolvency of Marek Transporte GmbH in Seewalchen

High road tolls and tremendous price pressure in the industry force Marek Transporte GmbH in Seewalchen to their knees

On 4 March bankruptcy proceedings about the assets and liabilities of Wolfgang Marek Transporte GmbH based in Seewalchen am Attersee, Upper Austria) were opened at the respective regional court in Wels. Liabilities amount to at least EUR 3.5 million, while no detailed information was specified on the amount of assets. The insolvency affects about 130 creditors, states the AKV Europa in a press release.

Neither continued operation nor restructuring is planned. The court appointed Andreas Meissner (lawyer in V cklabruck) as liquidator. Registration period for claims of creditors ends on 2 May 2013. The first hearing will take place on 16 May 2013.

Marek Transporte is dealing with special transportations for the paper industry as well as transportations of acids and lyes. The enterprise founded in 1993 by Wolfgang Marek as a sole proprietorship with two trucks, and had 21 employees most recently. Annual reports until 2011 have been positive.

Increasing fuel prices, high road tolls and a tremendous price pressure within the industry as well as capacity utilisation problems made it increasingly difficult to work profitably. A unilateral extension of the payment period of a major customer from 7 to 60 days resulted in a financing shortfall, which was not offset by the banks.
