Itella Logistics about to make an acquisition in Finland

Groupage cargo business of VR Transpoint to be integrated into the network of Itella Logistics
 
The Finish market for groupage cargo transport is facing another joining of forces – depending on the pending approval by the competition authorities. Itella Corporation and VR Group have signed a letter of intent for a business acquisition where Itella Logistics acquires the groupage logistics business of the VR subsidiary VR Transpoint. The 2011 net sales of the groupage logistics included in the letter of intent is approximately EUR 130 million, and the number of staff is more than 800. VR Transpoint will focus on mass goods logistics and its development both on railways and road. 
 
Itella Logistics is a provider of transport and logistics operations with own locations in eight countries (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Russia). The company employs 7,100 persons who generated net sales of EUR 732 million in 2011.
