Jump in turnover for OOCL on the Asia/Europe routes

Liner shipping company OOCL Orient Overseas Container Line (Hong Kong) posted growth on all services in the year 2010

 

The year 2010 had many bright spots for the liner shipping company OOCL Orient Overseas Container Line, based in Hong Kong. Transport volume as well as sales revenues increased considerably. The cargo load factor of the globally operating vessel fleet improved by 7.2 percentage points compared to 2009. This involved the increase of average revenue per TEU by 27.5 per cent.

The OOCL container vessels carried 4.76 million TEU in the reporting period. This means an increase of 14.6 per cent on 2009. Volume on the routes between Asia and Europe amounted to 793,315 TEU (up 16.9 per cent). Total throughput rose 46.1 per cent to USD 5.61 billion; Asia/Europe-services accounted fro USD 1.28 billion (up 86.1 per cent) thereof.
