Kuehne + Nagel: New pharmaceutical logistics centre in Leipzig

10,000 m² pharmaceutical logistics centre of Kuehne + Nagel creates new jobs in the German federal state of Saxony

Kuehne + Nagel has added a new unit to its network of logistics facilities with a particular industry focus in the German speaking area. On 22 March the globally acting transport and logistics provider inaugurated a state-of-the-art facility in the GVZ cargo transhipment centre (Güterverkehrszentrum) in Leipzig. In the initial stage a 10,000m² object designed for logistics of pharmaceutical products was built on a 90,000 m² area.

The new facility meets all standards according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) of the pharmaceutical industry. In addition to a refrigerated warehouse (2 to 8° Celsius) with 500 pallet slots, a segment for the storage and management of narcotics as well as authorised zones for production and samples extraction, two temperature-controlled halls provide space for 18,000 pallets. Temperature control and recording ensure the keeping on the required climatic data.

Apart from providing integrated logistics Kuehne + Nagel is specialising on tailored logistics solutions for the pharmaceutical and health care industry worldwide. In Leipzig the portfolio covers storage and distribution of the products, as well as picking, re-packing and samples extraction.
