Metrans Danubia: New terminal Kosice started operation

Intermodal container termial of Metrans Danubia a.s. offers three train connections per week to Dunajska Streda

Metrans group completed the first phase of construction works at the container terminal in Kosice. The terminal passes nowadays into trial operations and gradually all the shipments will be diverted from the old terminal to the new terminal. The location is the most modern terminal in the east of Central Europe, which will focus on the development of combined transport in the region of Eastern Slovakia, Eastern Hungary, as well as Romania, Poland and Ukraine. It offers excellent connections to all major European ports.

The terminal Kosice is another investment of Metrans group, with sufficient capacity for train processing (four reach stackers for full containers and two reach stackers for empty containers), as well as with sufficient storage capacity for both full and empty containers (capacity up to 3,000 TEU when fully occupied). Thanks to the investment the management sees the conditions for further development of transport in Slovakia, but also in other countries, for example Hungary (the closest terminal to Eastern Hungary is in Budapest), Romania (the region of Transylvania), Poland or Ukraine.

The terminal in Kosice has today rail connections to Dunajska Streda terminal three times per week, which offers connections to all other Metrans terminals as well as to the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Koper and Duisburg. In the foreseeable future an increase of the train connections is expected to five times per week.
