New ferry service with DFDS and LD Lines on the Channel

Combined passenger and freight service with DFDS and LD Lines connecting Calais and Dover to start 17 February

A new provider is to start operating in ferry traffic on the route between Calais, France, and Dover, UK. The shipping companies DFDS Seaways and LD Lines (Louis Dreyfus) will establish a new joint passenger and freight ferry service on 17 February. The duo fills the gap resulting from the insolvency of the French ferry shipping line Seafrance.

Initially DFDS Seaways and LD Lines will operate the route with the ferry vessel called Norman Spirit. The schedule comprises five daily departures on each course as well as four rotations on Sundays. A second ro-pax ferry under the French flag shall be added soon. Moreover the new initiative of the two shipping companies creates about 300 jobs.
