New platform for river shipping information is online
Austrian notices to skippers available at via donau’s internet platform „doris“
A new version of the Austrian notices to skippers (österreichische Nachrichten für die Binnenschifffahrt – NfB) is available Since the beginning of March 2011. The information can either be directly retrieved at nts.doris.bmvit.gv.at or by e-mail service. Notices to skippers are an important element of the River Information Services operated by via donau, the Austrian waterway company. The new inquiry interface was translated in 12 languages. In addition to fairway, traffic and water related messages as well as ice messages standardised by the European Commission, via donau also offers the „Fairway information overview“. These provide an overview on current water levels, shallow sections as well as availability of all lock chambers.
