OOO Revival Express enhances customs service in Russia
OOO Revival Express helps customers with electronic remote declaration to gain considerable amounts of time OOO Revival Express, a Russian subsidiary of Rhenus Group, is enhancing its customs service. By May 2010 the company will introduce electronic remote customs declaration at the locations in Sergejew Posad, Dmitrow, Zelenograd, Nizhniy Novgorod, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Smolensk. To their customers this means considerable time savings. “Electronic remote declaration is another step of Russia’s government to adjust customs clearance to the European standard and hence to meet the requirements to adhere to the World Trade Organisation“, Olaf Metzger, Managing Director of OOO Revival Express reports on 28 April at a press conference in the frame of the TransRussia fair in Moscow. Previously customs clearance required recipient, goods and customs declaration being at the same place. There the payment slip had to be presented to prove the import taxes have been paid. The new system enables e.g. a customer to present all required documents to a customs broker in Moscow for goods arrived by truck in Smolensk. The customs broker prepares the customs declaration and transfers it with special software via internet to the customs office in Smolensk. Another option is the following: The truck drives to a customs office just across the border and presents the documents to the customs authority. The goods recipient is in Kaluga and submits the customs declaration at the customs office there. The customs declaration is compared to the original documents via internal IT systems. If all data is correct, the customs authority approves the goods with destination Kaluga for goods traffic. “The advantage of this process is that the truck, which is destined to Kaluga can save the detour to Moscow, as necessary before, just because the customer is there“, explains Alexander Misurew, OOO Rhenus Customs Broker. “Instead, the customs formalities can be handled just on the other side of the border, so the truck can move on directly to its destination.
