Professionals gathering on the market leading event to overcome day-to-day challenges of logistics and supply chain management

The recent economic recession forced companies to take an intense look at their supply chains, while changing market conditions have lead to new challenges for logistics in every market sector from FMCG, F&B, retail and automotive to energy and electronics. Demand structures are changing and unpredictable consumer behaviour make forecasting and process optimisation more and more difficult for all players of these industries.

Supply chain, logistics and transportation professionals of numerous key companies have successfully addressed the challenges of today’s market conditions and now decided to come together from more than 20 countries to share their ideas and experiences on how to  reduce costs and optimize processes according to the ever-changing demands and volatile markets. They all agree that in times of uncertainty to cooperate, exchange ideas and to identify supportive partnerships have become more important than ever.

Exchanging ideas and establishing partnerships

All the major challenges of today’s economic environment will be addressed from different angles on 28-29 November 2012 in the *****Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal in Budapest, Hungary, where the most prominent logistics and supply chain professionals from the entire Central and Eastern European region will gather to spend two days learning from each other, establishing new contacts and making and maintaining collaborative partnerships with solution providers at the market leading TRANSLOG Connect Congress. The importance of the event has been recognized by all major associations and governmental ministries throughout Europe, who also joined forces in endorsing the congress all over the region and beyond.

On the programme, Miguel Suarez, the Director of Supply Chain Centre of Business Excellence of Swarowski (former SC Director of Kotányi) will compare the old and the new FMCG planning and execution model from a manufacturer’s point of view with his presentation on how to assure a flexible supply chain and high reaction rate. Rogier van Zon, the Global Warehousing & Distribution Director of TP Vision – the former Philips TV business group – will speak about the new delivery strategy they are implementing in order to re-design their warehouse and transportation footprint and optimise the supply chain. The Distribution and Logistics Director of Auchan, Péter Boncsér, will explain the collaborative reengineering plan for cost reduction in Auchan Hongrie, while Andrzrej Michalak, the Logistics Operations Manager for EE, Turkey and Russia from Delphi will present a case study about transportation network optimization. Executives from Chevrolet, Rába Automotive, Deutz, Dukat and Benteler Poland will come together to explore further topics in panel discussions and Jos Marinus, the President of the European Logistics Association with more than 30 years experience at DANONE will speak about innovation in supply chain.

Efficient and flexible solutions

The shift in business today is clearly towards more collaboration between all members of the supply chain: familiar market frameworks are changing and manufacturers, retailers and distributors require different solutions and services from providers. For this reason, TRANSLOG puts a great emphasis on giving the opportunity for logistics professionals and service providers to come together and discuss potential cooperations for the optimization and cost reduction of processes in each and every individual case through guaranteed pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings. Major service providers of the region, such as DSV, DB Schenker, Raben, Manhattan Associates, Motorola Solutions/Zebra Technologies, Dexion, Norbert Dentressangle, CH Robinsion, Fiege, FHG IPP Logipal, conTeyor and many others will demonstrate efficient and flexible solutions during these two days in Budapest, addressing the market’s new challenges. Gebrüder Weiss and the Port of Rotterdam together with the Embassy of The Royal Netherlands are sponsoring the event and will also join the panel of speakers on the programme.

TRANSLOG Connect will bring together over 500 key players of logistics, transportation and supply chain management from at least 20 different countries of the region, to provide them with an interactive platform where they can effectively share their ideas and come up with solutions both in general and according to their specific challenges and needs. The additional networking opportunities – plant excursions to the AUDI and Coca Cola plant and cocktail reception on the first evening – are just the icing on the cake, making the congress a true must-attend for every dedicated professional.
