Rail Cargo Austria receives award for diversity

Equal opportunities for women and men earns Rail Cargo Austria the national award with a quality mark for family friendliness

Rail Cargo Austria AG has been honoured for their active diversity management last week. The company has received the „mark of quality for family friendliness in profession“ for their measures to reconcile work and family life, among other things. On 13 November 2014 Reinhard Wallner, Head of Production Management, and Peter Truhlarovsky, Head of Human Resources, took over the national award on behalf of Rail Cargo Austria as a family-friendly employer from Dr. Sophie Karmasin, Federal Minister of Family Affairs and Youth.

Participating in the audit for profession and family, Rail Cargo Austria AG gave a clear signal of the significance of family-friendly policies for a company’s success and the satisfaction of their employees. Equality in all areas has to be lived actively in working life and is practiced by Rail Cargo Austria AG and the Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB.

ÖBB’s women network meetings, targeted human resources development, rehabilitation programs after maternity leave, flexible working time models such as flexitime, telecommuting, parental leave or paternity leave, workshops for managers and employees, as well as mentoring programs are on the agenda, to ensure greater tolerance and ideal development opportunities for employees.

„The reconciliation of work and family life is a major concern for us, for this reason we are happy to develop policies promoting our employees. Companies benefit from long-term operational measures, which allow for reconciliation of family and career,“ explains Reinhard Bamberger, CEO Rail Cargo Group.
