RCA and MÁV Cargo reinforce deployment of “Vertrauenszüge“-trains

RCA and MÁV Cargo reduce border crossing times

Rail Cargo Austria (RCA) and the Hungarian cargo railway MÁV Cargo are taking further steps to intensify their cooperation. In a press release the two companies announced that they will double the “Vertrauenszüge“ (“confidence trains”) to 100 per cent in 2009. About 50 per cent of the 50 currently operating transborder trains between Austria and Hungary are handled with this “confidence status”. Moreover, the two railway enterprises are planning to establish non-stop traffics between Vienna and Budapest without a wait and with no change of traction unit drivers.

For “Vertrauenszüge“-trains only the Taurus-locomotive has to be taken over by a new driver at the border. This cuts the waiting time at the border from more than two hours to some minutes. Customers can profit thereof in form of a quicker handling of goods transportation on the rail.
