RCA looking for a solution for internationalisation of contract logistics

Rail Cargo Austria wants to set the course for growth in contract logistics in 2013; further negotiations about cooperation with JCL Logistics

The rising customer demand for international market solutions is still inciting Rail Cargo Austria AG to look for solutions to ensure the contract logistic activities on the long term. The management board continues making considerations about which partner constellation might be the best for the company to further develop their business.

The analysis focus on the spin-off of the contract logistics division from the group, thus giving the division its own market appearance. This might be effected in the form of transborder partnerships providing customer-specific transport and logistics services or based on a joint venture with a powerful minority shareholder with a broad general cargo network.

"We are negotiating with several interested parties. They include JCL Logistics ", Erik Regter, CEO RCA, explains the current situation to the Austrian transport magazine  sterreichische Verkehrszeitung. A final decision about the implementation of the growth strategy in contract logistics shall definitely be made in 2013.

According to Erik Regter Rail Cargo Austria achieved a considerable improvement in results in 2012 compared with the previous year. The operating segment has come closer to the black figures. Erik Regter:  "Together with the employee s representative we found ways to give a future to the general cargo activities and the segment of complex solutions for storage logistics. This was possible thanks to the colleagues doing a great job in the past 24 months and we have been able to renew many customer agreements."
