Acquisition of Romtrans Group opens access to numerous assets for DB Schenker

The takeover of the Romtrans Group provides DB Schenker-clients with access to a comprehensive network of transport and logistics services in Romania. Moreover the shortly acquired company operates numerous logistics terminals that are directly connected to the railway in Romania and a private port in Constanza, as Dr. Norbert Bensel, Board Member responsible for transport and logistics at DB Mobility Logistics AG, and Mag. Elmar Wieland, Chief Executive Officer of DB Schenker & CO AG Austria and southeastern Europe, said at a press conference in Vienna.

After having finished all formalities DB Schenker and Romtrans will act under the name DB Schenker Romtrans in Romania. With 1,650 employees at around 90 stations the new enterprise will represent an annual turnover of around EUR 117 million. The transport volumes are expected to amount to 86,000 consignments in the segment of international road transport, about 49,000 consignments in national land transport, 4,600 airfreight consignments and 1,700 TEU of seafreight. As for railway traffic DB Schenker and Romtrans handle around 1.6 million tons of cargo per year. The warehouse capacity is stated to be about 300,000 square metres.
