Full ships with container shipping company APL

Operative business of the container shipping company APL (Singapore) is back in the black again

The first half of the year 2010 was marked by fully utilised container vessels at the worldwide acting container shipping company APL. In spite of the reintegration into the schedule of the tonnage that has been disposed of in 2009 as a response to the economic crisis, the company was able to market the available capacities to their full extent, as president Eng Aik Meng reports.

The vessels of the shipping company affiliated to the Neptune Orient Lines Group (NOL) in Singapore transported 2.7 million TEU between January and June. This is a 39 per cent-increase compared on the first half year 2009. Sales revenues soared up 46 per cent to USD 3.7 billion. Ebit amounted to USD 13 million after minus USD 372 million in the same period last year.
