Starting signal for JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven

Eurogate Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven: Germany’s new deep water port starts with two liner services
 
On 21 September the JadeWeserPort in Wilhelmshaven was inaugurated. Germany’s first deep water port was built with a total investment of EUR 1 billion. The federal states Lower Saxony and Bremen contributed EUR 650 million to the infrastructure. The Eurogate group as the terminal operator raised EUR 350 million for the crane facilities and other equipment. In addition to the container terminal the neighbouring 160 hectares logistics zone was inaugurated as well.
 
JadeWeserPortPort Wilhelmshaven is open to vessels with a maximum draught of 16.5 metres, 24/24, tight-independent. The core of the terminals is the 1,725 metres quayside. The premier customer Maersk Line included Wilhelmshaven in two weekly scheduled container services (Far East service
 
AE1 and South America service CRX). The first call was made on the evening of 20 September by MV "Maersk Laguna", a container vessel with 7,450 TEU capacity.
