trans-o-flex ThermoMed acquires Rhenus Life Sciences

trans-o-flex ThermoMed develops new pharmaceutical temperature segment

Rhenus Group ceases their activities in the field of actively temperature-controlled transportations for the healthcare industry. The trans-o-flex ThermoMed GmbH & Co. KG will take over Rhenus Life Sciences GmbH & Co. KG with effect from 1st July. “For us, this takeover means an extension of our capacities in a promising market. In addition to this, a new network will help us meet the pharmaceutical industry’s requirements with respect to covering the two temperature ranges between 2 and 8°C as well as between 15 and 25°C”, says Carsten Glos, Managing Director of trans-o-flex ThermoMed.

Until today, ThermoMed had specialised in the 2-to-8-°C range, while the parent company trans-o-flex had focused its activities on combi-freight solutions – combined transport of parcels and pallets in a full-coverage network – as well as not actively temperature-controlled solutions for specific industries. “We have realised that the active temperature control of shipments in the range between 15 and 25°C has also become very important for our customers“, adds Wolfgang Weber, Managing Director of trans-o-flex. “This is why, starting with the takeover of Rhenus Life Sciences, we will strongly extend this service within the trans-o-flex Logistics Group.”

The trans-o-flex ThermoMed GmbH & Co. KG based in Weinheim is according to its own account the quality and market leader in Germany for transport of temperature-sensitive shipments for the pharmaceutical industry between 2° and 8°C. The company’s nationwide network consists of a sorting centre and 39 depots. The 100%-subsidiary of the trans-o-flex logistics group has around 500 employees. Apart from Germany, the company’s special services are also available in Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
