WienCont: Start of the installation of the 3rd portal crane
Third portal crane at Terminal 1 of WienCont to increase throughput capacity at the container terminal in Vienna’s port Freudenau
These days the parts and components for the third portal crane will arrive at Terminal 1 of the WienCont container terminal in the Port of Vienna Freudenau. “The installation of the new crane facility shall be finished by the end of this year. The start of operation is scheduled for the first quarter of 2013“, says Karin Zipperer, managing director WienCont, when talking to the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung. She expects the new crane to enhance throughput capacity by about 30 per cent.
On a total surface of 120,000 m² in the Viennese port of Freudenau WienCont offers services in the sectors container terminal/container handling, container depot, container repair and container trade. As to 2012 the management team – Karin Zipperer and Robert Groiß – expects a volume of about 410,000 TEU. WienCont is a subsidiary of the Port of Vienna.
