Yusen Logistics expands its storage capacity in the Port of Duisburg

NYK-subsidiary Yusen Logistics constructs another logistics complex with 26,000 m² covered area in the Port of Duisburg

Yusen Logistics becomes the second biggest logistics customer in the Port of Duisburg. With the start of the construction of a new logistics centre the globally acting enterprise expands its logistics area at the site in the Ruhr area to almost 70,000 m². The new logistics complex, with a size of 26,000 m², will be built on one of the last available pieces of land on the logport I site. The complex includes a hazardous goods store of 6,000 m². The inauguration of the new warehouse complex is scheduled for the beginning of 2014.

“NYK / Yusen was our first customer on logport I and has been one of the major investors in the Port of Duisburg ever since. This fifth expansion underlines the strategic significance which the company attaches to the location and its network,” says Erich Staake, Chief Executive Officer of Duisburger Hafen AG. “logport offers all logistic prerequisites for our customers and due to its direct connection to the container terminal it is also strategically very significant”, confirms Seiji Yuzen, Managing Director of Yusen Logistics.

Yusen’s main customers in the Port of Duisburg include companies which require high qualitative logistics services, including worldwide operating Japanese companies. Yusen Logistics is a global logistics service provider, affiliated to the listed NYK group – the largest Japanese shipping company with a business volume of USD 23 billion in 2011, and more than 55.000 employees in over 300 international locations. This makes the NYK group one of the leading logistics companies in the world.
