Zespri renewed contract with the Port of Zeebrugge

Sea-Invest and Port of Zeebrugge renew their cooperation with Zespri kiwifruit marketer for five years

Zespri, a leading kiwifruit marketer, renewed its existing agreement with Port of Zeebrugge and Sea-Invest, a stevedoring company, for another five years. The agreement was signed at the end of November, during the journey of Belgium’s Crown Prinze Philippe to Australia and New Zealand. A commitment that guarantees Zeebrugge will remain Zespri’s gateway to Europe for New Zealand kiwifruit exports, as the port states in a press release.

Under the agreement, which was first signed in 1984, Sea-Invest puts its infrastructure at the disposal of Zespri for storage, quality control and packaging of arriving kiwifruit. In 2011 around 140,000 tonnes of Zespri kiwifruit (120.000 t from New Zealand; 20,000 t from Italy) were handled in the port of Zeebrugge and distributed across Europe.
