Andreas Schmid Logistik AG: New facility at the Czech location Kadan and construction of a logistics centre for mechanical engineering enterprises in Gersthofen:

Expanding its infrastructure, Andreas Schmid Logistik AG is preparing for new projects of major customers. In Kadan, Czech Republic, a 5,000 m² logistics facility was opened by the end of July. The building serves as warehousing and distribution platform for central and eastern Europe.

In Gersthofen, southern Germany, a state-of-the-art logistics centre is being built directly at the motorway A8. The target group for this facility are mechanical engineering enterprises in need of logistics solutions involving the use of cranes. Through these expansion steps the total storage capacity of the company’s locations in Augsburg/Gersthofen, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Kadan grows to 177,000 m² and 145,000 pallet slots.

„Demand in the logistics sector is growing continuously. We have also started handling complete production steps and we have become a fixed part of our customers’ supply chains. This has the effect that an increasing number of industrial enterprises redefine their core competences and charge service providers with their logistics operations. Driven by this development, high quality logistics properties are becoming scarce“, CEO Gianluca Crestani describes the current situation in the logistics market.

Being a family-managed, medium sized enterprise Andreas Schmid Logistik AG provides full range solutions meeting individual requirements in the sector of worldwide procurement and distribution logistics on the road, rail and waterway or by air transport. Their 1,046 employees generated a consolidated turnover of EUR 106 million in 2010. In the first six months of 2011 turnover rose 10 per cent year-on-year.
