Blue Water Shipping (Denmark) takes over Wikeström & Krogius

Wikeström & Krogius to change ownership; Blue Water Shipping strengthens its position in Finlands market for freight forwarding services
 
 One of Finland’s largest, privately owned freight forwarding companies – Wikeström & Krogius – becomes part of Danish owned Blue Water Shipping. The company acquisition will take effect on 1st September 2013 and Blue Water will retain the brand name W&K – a part of Blue Water. Henrik Mahlberg will take on the position as Managing Director of the activities of W&K and Blue Water in Finland.W&K was established in 1850, and is today a very strong brand in Finland. The company is specialised in road, sea, and air transports as well as project transports and comprehensive logistical solutions. W&K has 38 employees and three offices in Finland. In 2012 the turnover was EUR 23 million. "It has always been our goal to build a active and developing cooperation with our clients and to provide the best possible logistical, cost efficient and tailor-made solutions for each specific client need. I believe that Blue Water Shipping is the right home for Wikeström & Krogius, so I expect a lot from this merger, and look forward to become a part of Blue Water Shipping", says Managing Director of Wikeström & Krogius, Henrik Mahlberg. He is one of the three owners who decided to strengthen W&K by handing over ownership to Blue Water. Blue Water already has an own office in Helsinki – established in 2008. In recent years, the company has increased its focus on the Nordic countries with the ambition of becoming an even stronger player. "In Denmark, we have a leading position, and we recently made a strategic decision to strengthen our position in Finland, Sweden and Norway based on the same principle as in Denmark – with offices at key locations. Our strategy is to be close to our clients. We know that it is of great significance to our quality and service that we have a close, personal dialogue with our clients", says Carsten Eskildsen, Director for Blue Water Shipping’s General Cargo Division.Blue Water has 1100 employees and for the third successive year it recently presented a record turnover and profit. In 2012, revenue was EUR 555 million and the profit was EUR 11.4 million.
