Buss Ports Logistics has a new “captain”

Marco Neelsen to succeed Heinrich Ahlers in the position of Chief Executive Offer with Buss Port Logistics

As of Ocotber 1, 2015 Marco Neelsen (40) will assume the position of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with Buss Port Logistics. Together with Michael Bosch, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), he will form the Management Board of the port, services and logistics segment of the enterprise. Heinrich Ahlers (64) will remain active for the Buss Group at least until the end of 2016.

After his training as a navigator Marco Neelsen has been at sea for a short time. In 2001 he started working at NTB (North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven GmbH & Co.) in the operations segment and studied maritime and port economy at the University of Applied Sciences in Oldenburg/Elsfleth. After his graduation, he took over operational management responsibilities within the AP Moeller Terminals Group, including countries like Oman, Nigeria and Aqaba/Jordan. From 2012 until recently, he was CEO of the Khalifa Bin Salman port in Bahrain. The port combines container and multipurpose terminal and also offers logistic services.

Marco Neelsen should continue on his course of the past years. His aim is to further expand the port and logistics area of the Buss Group, and in particular to develop and to operate more port projects abroad in the multipurpose and bulk cargo segment, as well as in the container sector.

Buss was founded in 1920 as a port service provider in Hamburg. Since then the owner-managed company has been developing continuously in line with growing market demand. Today the Buss group has about 770 employees in its five business segments of port logistics services (Buss Port Logistics), logistics real estate (Ixocon), investments (Buss Capital), container leasing (Raffles Lease) and shipping (Buss Shipping). Moreover Buss has a holding in the traditional Hamburg-based shipping company Aug. Bolten.
