Emirates concentrates German cargo flights to Frankfurt

Reorganisation of German cargo flights with Emirates SkyCargo

Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of the Dubai-based international Emirates airline, is shifting all cargo flights ex Germany to the Frankfurt airport. As of 21 September 2009 all of the eight weekly services will be operated from the airport in Frankfurt. Destinations are the international hub of the airline in Dubai (six times weekly) and Toledo in the US-state of Ohio (two times weekly). The service will be operated with freight machines of the Boeing 747-400 series. Aside from Frankfurt three of the eight weekly Emirates SkyCargo freight-only flights have been operated from Frankfurt-Hahn so far.

Reinhard Coldewe, Emirates Cargo Manager Germany: "By concentrating our freighter fleet to Frankfurt we create the basis for further growth and more efficiency in Germany. Our office at site and the direct access to a central warehouse allows us to offer an even better service to customers. We don’t expect a reduction of our flights due to a possible ban on night flights.“

Emirates SkyCargo serves 100 destinations in 61 countries around the globe. The fleet consists of 129 passenger jets and eight freighter aircrafts (four jets of the Boeing 747-400F type, two Boeing 747-400ERF and two Boeing 777F). In the fiscal year 2008/2009 Emirates SkyCargo transported 1.4 million tons of freight and achieved sales revenues at the amount of USD 2.1 billion.
