Ennshafen port expands and modernises Kai 1

Lower Austria’s Ennshafen implements expansion of the quay facility Kaianlage 1 and evaluates heavy lift opportunities

The Lower Austrian port Ennshafen is about to expand its quay facility. Before the end of this year the port facility Kai 1 will be extended by 75 metres. In line with that, the entire drainage of surface water will be modernised and a second track will be built for direct cargo handling from railcars to ships and v.v.. These measures are targeted to significantly increase cargo throughput on the water. The project at total costs of EUR 2.5 million is supported by Lower Austria and by financial means of the ecoplus regional funding, including co-financing form the European Union.

In addition to the expansion of the quay facility, the port of Ennshafen evaluates heavy lift opportunities. They are striving to establish a regular throughput option of high & heavy cargo on river vessels. This is to be implemented in the sense of a demand-oriented solution involving the service providers and shippers in the region around the Ennshafen port.
