Ford accelerates deliveries with TS Transport Service

Enhanced use of RFID technology saves about 15 per cent of the time for new cars distribution for Ford

 

By using more radio frequency identification technology (RFID) and integrating its partner TS Transport Service in parallel, the automotive manufacturer Ford optimises the distribution of its new cars from the plants in Cologne and the Belgian Genk. Having introduced contactless radio data transmission into plant logistics, vehicle distribution is now also based on this technology. According to the car manufacturer this reduces idle times by one fifth. The gain in time with TS Transport Service delivery is given with 15 per cent.

The name TS Transport Service stands for a joint venture between Autologic Holdings plc., Great Britain, and Hödlmayr International AG, Austria. The enterprise is active as a releasing agent for the Ford plants in Genk. The subsidiary Transport Service GmbH in Cologne has been working for Ford since January 2003. Their services include takeover of vehicles, identification of vehicles, quality control as well as dispatch of cars.
