Gebrüder Weiss: groundbreaking ceremony in Lauterach

Transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss invests 28 million euro into construction and renovation of its headquarters in Vorarlberg
 
With a traditional groundbreaking ceremony on 19 November 2012, Gebrüder Weiss Management Board Members Wolfgang Niessner (CEO), Peter Kloiber, Wolfram Senger-Weiss and Heinz Senger-Weiss celebrated the start of construction of the new headquarters in Lauterach, together with numerous guests of honour. Among them were Deputy State Governor Karlheinz Rüdisser, Elmar Rhomberg, Mayor of Lauterach as well as Heidi and Paul Senger-Weiss, Gebrüder Weiss Supervisory Board members. “Expanding our capacity is a crucial step towards a sustainable future of our global headquarters in Vorarlberg and at the same time it shows our commitment to regional economy,” says Wolfram Senger-Weiss. The new building is expected to be ready mid 2014. A total of around 28 million euro will be invested in the project.
 
Offering a future floor space of approx. 4,000 m², the new headquarters, together with the existing building that will continue to serve as the Lauterach branch, doubles the office space. All corporate divisions will be housed in the new building – from the Management Board, Corporate Sales and Product Management to Central Human Resources. By expanding the company’s headquarters, about 100 new jobs will be created in the long term.
 
In addition to the establishment of the headquarters as one of the most important measures, the construction plans also include a comprehensive renovation and restructuring of the area located on the Bundesstraße in Lauterach. In the northern area of the site, a new, state-of-the-art logistics warehouse will be built with over 5,000 m² of logistics space and 13,000 pallet positions. In addition, the south-facing transhipment warehouse will be completely renovated as part of the project: an extra 1,000 m² and 13 docking gates will be added. Also, the entire traffic flow will be reorganised.
