Kuehne + Nagel opened expanded logistics campus in Duisburg logport

Growing demand for industry-specific logistics space animated Kuehne + Nagel to further expand its logistics facilities at the Duisburg logport site

The logistics campus operated by Kuehne + Nagel in Duisburg logport is now scoring with an enhanced offering. After completion of the third and fourth construction stages the enterprise now has about 160,000 m² of warehousing and logistics space under management in the Duisburg port area. The official opening ceremony of the expanded logistics campus took place on 9 September.

To meet the constantly growing demand for integrated, industry-specific logistics services and warehouse space in Duisburg, Kuehne + Nagel further expanded its logistics facilities at the logport site, which have been in operation since 2003. The new building consists of seven sections and a warehouse space of 42,000 m². For a major FMCG organisation it serves as distribution centre for Germany, Austria and the Benelux markets. About 11,000 m² will be used for both new business and reserve space for existing customers. In total the logistics campus in Duisburg logport accounts for about 100,000 m². Furthermore, at its logistics facility in Duisburg-Blumenkampshof Kuehne + Nagel operates an additional 60,000 m² central distribution hub for destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa on behalf of a major international customer.

In Duisburg, Kuehne + Nagel implemented the campus concept for the first time. The concentration of highly skilled personnel and different logistics facilities (multi user/dedicated) for different industry groups at one strategic location improves efficiency, generates synergies and supports a flexible and ideal management of peaks. The location gains additional significance through the Duisburg Intermodal Terminal, allowing for environmentally friendly transportation – including river shipping and rail.
