Major Gebrüder Weiss investment in the Czech Republic

Gebrüder Weiss builds new logistics terminal with office building and cross-docking facility in in Jeneč near Prague

The transport- and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss enforces their presence on the Czech market. They are building an additional building with office complex and cross-docking facilities in Jeneč, close to the international airport Prague. The total investment amounts to about 15 million Euros. The ground-breaking ceremony for the project took place at the end of November.

The terminal site comprises about 75.000 m2. In a first phase about 10.000 m2 of handling- and logistics facilities (cross-docking warehouse with 61 gates) as well as a 3.000 m2 office complex are constructed. Depending on demand other logistics warehouses will be added. "This location will meet our requirements", says Harald Prohaska, national head Czech Republic for Gebründer Weiss. Jeneč will become an integral part of their day-to-day business in October 2012.

Jeneč is the 6th Gebründer Weiss location in the Czech Republic. Other locations can be found in Rudná, Rícany-Jazlovice, Ostrava, Brno and Ceske Budejovice. "The Czech Republic is a really important market for us and still has enormous potential", Prohaska says. "19 years after opening our first branch we are a fully established player on the Czech transport- and logistics market. In the two last business years, turnover increased by 15 per cent each and last reached 60 million Euros."

Gebrüder Weiss has serviced the Czech Republic with their own location for the last 19 years. They presently employ 308 people in five locations. They operate 34.400 m2 of warehousing- and 9.100 m2 of handling space.
