Slump in business of container shipping company OOCL on Asia-Europe routes

For Orient Overseas Container Lines (OOCL) in Hong Kong 2009 was a year of disillusion. Forwarded volumes as well as revenues were considerably down on 2008. In the total system the OOCL container vessels transported 4.16 million TEU in the reporting period, 14 per cent less than in 2008. Total revenues declined by 35.2 per cent to USD 3.84 billion. On the Trans-Atlantic relation from/to Europe 349,308 TEU were moved (down 17.7 per cent) and revenues of USD 487 million were generated (down 34.9 per cent).
