OOCL places order for two large container vessels

Strong growth in volume and turnover at OOCL container shipping company (Orient Overseas Container Lines) 

 

The liner shipping company OOCL (Orient Overseas Container Lines) from Hong Kong is to receive two new „flagships“. In a press release the enterprise announced having placed an order for two 8,800 TEU container vessels. 47 carriers ranging from 3,161 to 8,063 TEU are currently operating under the flag of the worldwide acting company.

Orient Overseas Container Lines reported a positive business development in the financial year 2010. In the first nine months the forwarded cargo rose 13.1 per cent to 3.46 million TEU. The turnover generated through this transport performance amounted to USD 4.096 billion, which is 47.8 per cent above the figure of the January to September 2009-period.
