Qatar Airways about to expand in Central Asia

Qatar Airways plans to launch flights from November to Georgia and Azerbaijan as well as to Entebbe in Uganda

 

The Doha-based airline Qatar Airways will be continuing its expansion of the international route network, which had been started at the beginning of this year, until late autumn. In a press release the enterprise announces the launch of scheduled flights to Bulgaria’s capital Sofia from 14 September, apart from introducing further new routes.

Daily non-stop scheduled flights to Uganda’s second largest city of Entebbe are due to begin on November 2, marking the carrier’s 15th destination in Africa. Four weeks later, effective November 30, Qatar Airways expands into Central Asia introducing daily non-stop flights to Baku which continue onto Tbilisi, the capital cities of Azerbaijan and Georgia respectively. The three routes will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft.

Introducing a fourth Saudi Arabia gateway and increasing the frequency on their routes, Qatar Airways expands its activities in the Saudi Arabian kingdom by 71 per cent this year. The city of Medina, located in the west of the country, will be served non-stop with four flights a week from 14 July 2011. Daily services to Riad and Dschidda will be enhanced to two daily flights effective 1 June 2011, the city of Dammam in the east of the country will at the same time be approached 28 times instead of previously 21 times per week. The various routes between Doha and Saudi-Arabia are operated with Airbus A320, Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
