Schnellecke opens new logistics centre for Volkswagen Slovakia

Schnellecke Slovakia’s new LOC “Logistics Optimization Center” is the largest automotive storage centre in the Bratislava region

Under the Motto: “New space for new logistics”, the new LOC “Logistics Optimization Center” was opened in Lozorno by Schnellecke Slovakia for their customer Volkswagen Slovakia. The warehouse has an area of 25,000 m² and, with more than 90,000 storage positions, is the largest automotive storage centre in the Bratislava region. The LOC accommodates also an automated small-parts warehouse (AKL) for 75,000 small load pallets, as well as a narrow aisle high-bay storage for large load pallets with 14,500 storage positions and an additional 5,500 bulk storage bins.

The centrepiece of the project is the AKL. The AKL saves space costs and time, but also leads to considerable improvements in productivity in the storage and delivery of small load pallets and therefore also to better fulfilment of the customer requirements. In order to supply the production line at Volkswagen Slovakia, sequenced shuttle trucks run between the LOC and the VW plant.

The Schnellecke group based in Wolfsburg is a leading internationally operating logistics service provider and supplier of the automotive industry.
