Six new multi purpose vessels for Safmarine shipping company

New break bulk shipping equipment for Safmarine services to destination ports in West Africa

A new era begins for the multi purpose division of the Safmarine shipping company, affiliated to the A.P. Moller Maersk Group. In the period from July 2010 to May 2011 the enterprise is to start operating six new break bulk ships. The units are owned by the shipping company itself. At Safmarine they are the first newly acquired multi purpose vessels (MPV) since their integration into the A.P. Moller Maersk Group in 1999.

Safmarine is currently operating a fleet that consists of 15 MPV units, which are all chartered. The ships transport conventional sea freight and break bulk from four continents to West Africa. The main users are enterprises active in the oil, gas, energy, mining and building industry, and their forwarding partners, respectively.
