Weiss-Röhlig India to start operating on 1 September

Gebrüder Weiss acquires holding in Tricon Shipping Pvt. Ltd.

Gebrüder Weiss advances its expansion into the Asia-Pacific region. On 1 September the Weiss-Röhlig India-company will start operating in India. The necessary steps for this expansion have already been taken: Gebrüder Weiss long-term partner Röhlig acquired a 50%-share in Tricon Shipping Pvt. Ltd. at the beginning of this year. Gebrüder Weiss has now taken over half of these shares. The residual 50% remain within the control of founder and long-time Managing Director B. R. Rangamani.

”The joining with Tricon Shipping increases our expertise in this very important and complex market in one stroke. We carefully prepared this step over a long time and have evaluated several opportunities. Given their professional conduct, their focus on the customer, and their company culture, we found in Tricon a company that suits us nearly perfectly”, Air & Sea Chairman Heinz Senger-Weiss explained the significance of this share.

Weiss-Röhlig India, headquartered in Chennai, has 150 employees in 16 locations. The scope of services includes Air & Sea transport handling, project logistics, customs clearance, warehousing and distribution services. Joe Lässer, Air & Sea Director, said: “The name change to Weiss-Röhlig India allowed us to establish the company sustainably in India and to act as a group under one unique roof. We have developed from an association of agencies into a complete solutions provider covering the entire logistics value chain.”

B. R. Rangamani will continue to manage Weiss-Röhlig India. The forwarder can look back on more than 20 years of experience in the Indian transport and logistics business.
