Wincanton: Stable business model and positive expectations

Contract logistics specialist Wincanton has well mastered the 2009/10 business year

 

Thanks to the high quality of their networks and processes combined with a tight customer relationship and a consequent implementation of the restructuring of the German branch, the British contract logistics group Wincanton plc. has well mastered the 2009/10 business year (30 March). With a total turnover of GBP 2.18 billion (down 7.6 per cent on 2008/09) the enterprise posted an operating result of GBP 54.6 million (2008/09: GBP 59.6 million). The profit before taxes amounted to GBP 3 million after GBP 20 million in the 2008/09 fiscal period. In the current business year the Management expects a positive development for turnover as well as for profit figures.

Wincanton employs around 30,000 persons in the regions UK & Ireland and Mainland Europe. Their activities on the European continent are divided into transnational transport and forwarding services, as well as contract logistics. In the reporting period they posted a turnover of GBP 856.5 million and an operating profit of GBP 6.2 million. Wincanton’s customers in Mainland Europe include the following major clients: Danone, Goodyear, GSK, Honeywell, InBev, Nutreco and Velux.
